BREED: Mix

GENDER: Male

AGE: 3 Months Old

WEIGHT: Growing

This beautiful little 4 month old, 22 lb. nugget of love is “Steele”. He came to K9 Orphans from Rochester’s city shelter with a broken rear femur. Steele visited with an orthopedic surgeon this week and unfortunately we have two choices 1) amputate 2) let it go for about 4 months, let the leg grow and allow the growth plate to develop and then reassess with the surgeon when he’s neutered.
Unfortunately, it’s been broken for some time and it has started to heal and the bone has calcified so we wait as I would love to have this baby keep this leg if possible. Steele is asking for some help! This week’s care at two hospitals were costly but that’s nothing compared to what we have ahead of us which is either going to be an invasive surgery with plating and after therapy or amputation and after therapy. If you would like to donate to “Steele’s Wheels” fund, please go to the donation page to donate…just make sure to designate “Steele’s Wheels!” We appreciate your support and we think Steele is very worthy of our help!

Steele is currently not available for adoption as his leg isn’t strong enough to be out of our sight…
