RIVER – Rochester NY area
2 year old female hound mix, approx. 50 lb. K9 Orphans is working with the Herkimer County Humane Society and trying to find this beautiful girl a foster or forever home through K9 Orphans.
River is energetic and LOVES people and other dogs. She has not shown any interest in cats. She’s extremely friendly and loves to sniff anything and everything. She does pull on a leash but practice makes perfect and she’s working on it.
She was returned because a child was playing in her food bowl while she tried to eat, and she did growl at that child. Now I know I shouldn’t say this… but I would growl also. That’s not a great position to put a dog into (EVER) but especially when the dog is a new member of your family. She was returned a second time because she played too much with their 12-year-old dog. Twelve year old dogs do not want a puppy to play with “usually” so we’re not going to hold that against her either. However, she needs a chance. This is a fantastic dog with a huge heart, and she is looking for a best friend or family that won’t fail her. She’s very much still a puppy and will be a great addition to a family or owner.
