Jack is a 10 month old Anatolian Shepherd/Great Pyrenees mix. He currently weighs 85lbs and is still growing! This beautiful boy is a mix of two guardian breeds, and he takes his job seriously. Jack would probably do best as the only dog in the home. He is social with other dogs and has been attending doggy daycare without issue, but wants to be the “king of his castle” at home. Jack can be fearful of new experiences and may need some reassurance and encouragement with treats.
Jack has been around cats but does like to chase at times. He has a moderate prey drive and will chase smaller animals. He has resource guarding behaviors with other animals and does not like to share food, water, toys, attention, etc. Jack has resource guarding behaviors including food, water, toys and attention with other animals.
Overall, Jack is a pretty mellow guy. He’s crate trained and will walk on a leash, but does need some work on his leash manners. He rides in the car well, but has some initial fear with getting into the car. He’s not much of a jumper but can use a ramp and prefers this to being picked up. He likes to have a toy or Benebone in the car to occupy him.
Jack loves being with his people and can be snuggly. He has been attending doggy daycare 4-5 times a week and is not accustomed to being left alone for long periods. We will only consider applicants who are home a lot or would continue to send him to daycare on work days. His favorite toys are stuffed animals and Benebones.
Jack comes with his own XL crate, XL bed, toys, blankets, Benebones, 6 months of Simparica (flea/tick preventative), and 6 months of Interceptor Plus (heartworm preventative). Jack has been on a raw diet for the past 5 months with some dry food mixed in.
