Thank you to all who have donated and followed Flynn’s story! For those of you who haven’t had the pleasure of meeting him yet, let us fill you in …
Flynn was surrendered to us in December of 2018 through one of our volunteers who does outreach in the city. Flynn’s owners reached out to her because they had accidentally hit him with their car backing out of the driveway. He had lost the use of one of his front paws and they had been unable to provide the care that he needed. Flynn came to K9O and went to live with one of our wonderful fosters, and we all came to see what a happy, energetic young man he was, despite his limitations.
Flynn has since been under the care of an orthopedic specialist and was diagnosed with a brachial plexus avulsion, which means that the nerves in his shoulder had stretched and possibly torn when he was hit. The good news was that Flynn was not in pain and there was no further damage, but the bad news was that he would not regain the normal use of his paw. Thanks to the generous donations of K9O’s followers, Flynn was able to have surgery to fuse his ankle and give him the best chance at a normal life.
Flynn has now fully recovered from his surgery and has been fitted with a custom foot brace to keep his paw straight. He will need to wear it every day for the rest of his life, but it doesn’t slow him down one bit! He still loves to run and play and is getting stronger every day.
He is now 4-5 years old and around 55lbs. This happy little hopper will steal your covers and your heart with his many facial expressions and happy smile. He loves to play hard and snuggle even harder. He is obsessed with bones and his Kong; he has jaws of steel and will need the extreme version! His foster family says he snores, but he doesn’t believe them. He is a very affectionate guy who insists on always bringing you a dog dish when you have left his presence for more than a few minutes. Be careful; he will grab whatever bowl he can find and pays no regard as to whether or not it is full of water. He gets along with most dogs but would need to meet any resident dogs. He has not been tested around cats. Flynn’s furever home should have a good sized fenced in yard so he can romp to catch a toy tossed to him and make the most out of his new leg.
