Meet Joy, aptly named and full of love. She is around 3 years old and 45 lbs, sporting a beautiful silver coat. She came to us from an overcrowded shelter in Louisiana* and is now ready to find her happily ever after here in Rochester. She loves everyone she meets, even cats! Her foster mom says she is the type of dog you can take anywhere and she will get along with everyone, greeting them with tail wags and dancing feet. She is gentle and affectionate, loves to snuggle, give kisses, and play with toys.
Joy is well-behaved in the house and is fully crate trained and potty trained. She still pulls a little on the leash but is getting better. Joy would excel in a training class! She is smart and has a great personality. Her perfect home would have a fully fenced in yard to run and play fetch in. She does not like loud noises and startles easily, and we do not believe she would tolerate the shock of an invisible fence well. There is a risk of her getting spooked and running if she is off-leash, so a secure solid fence is required for her.
*Please note: Joy came to us from Louisiana where heartworm is common. All of our dogs are tested before transport, but there is a small chance that they still may end up receiving a positive test result several months later. It takes 6 months after exposure for an infection to be detectable. Please be aware of this possible risk and contact us with any questions before applying to adopt.
